SIGHTHOUNDS

The American Kennel Club hosts a yearly "Meet the Breeds" event for people to meet and learn about different dog breeds.

This brand design for the Meet the Breeds event was made during various classes in the Graphic Design program, and focuses on the Sighthound subset of the Hound Group.

The breed guide booklet uses the classic AKC blue in the screen print style imagery that references traditional print methods. The font is mostly modern and geometric, with a serif display font that has a tall and spindly profile.

The Objective

The client is committed to the history and preservation of dog breeds, and wants to engage with a new generation of people exploring candidates for their next best friend.

The text system displays breed name, country of origin, alternate names, and main attributes in the top and bottom containers, making the similarities and differences of different dogs within the same group easy to compare.

The signage gives an at-a-glance overview of the breed with to-scale images of the dog. Like the booklet, different levels of information are accessible based on time spent in front of the material.
